Thom Wolf - Drums and Vocals

Thom Wolf grew up in Georgetown, ON, and anyone who knew him realized that he had special musical talent at a young age. Thom began to study drums at age 9, and in his early teens began playing in bands with musicians older than himself, joining his first band at age 14, called Ventura, with school friends Bill Kent and Edgar Thatcher. He began teaching drums the same year at a local music store, and eventually attained standing as an instructor at the Ontario College of Percussion and Music from 1978-79, '82-'84, and again from '97-'99. At 16, Thom began his professional career with Blue Steel, an area rock band. Two years later, he found himself on the road with show band Spring Fever, touring Canada.

In 1984, Thom auditioned for a house band in Windsor, ON at a renowned area nightclub called Tune-Ups. It was here that he honed his skills playing with a group of seasoned musicians 5 nights a week for 2 years, and where he first met a young singer named Cheryl Hardy…

As the 80's progressed, Thom finally moved back to the Georgetown area where he reunited with some high school buddies who had a fledgling band called Double Exposure. He began doing freelance work, custom woodwork for his own business Wolf Woodcraft, and playing occasionally with Double Exposure, playing restaurants and nightclubs. Shortly thereafter, John B. Miller came on board in 1986 and then Joe Orlando in '90. The three musicians would form the core of what is now Coming Of Age.

In 1992, Thom and guitar player friend Mike Odendahl (who was then also playing with Double Exposure) decided to go their own way with their new project, Young Leonard. This band played the nightclub scene, and had a more aggressive rock sound with singer Charin Volmer, sister of Canadian rocker Brian Volmer of Helix. 1995 saw the breakup of Young Leonard, and Thom's return to regular duty with Double Exposure. Thom, John and Joe were reunited once more.

Finally, in 1997, needing another musical outlet, the seeds of Coming Of Age were planted, with singer Cheryl Hardy and guitarist Steve Manning. In January 2001, with more work than they could handle while in two bands at once, Coming Of Age became the sole focus of all its members.

Thom now lives near Hillsburgh, ON with his family, and is currently building an Earthship so he can move out of his school bus.
